Updates from the Rush/UFO concert at Winterland...September 1977!
Highly agree...as my comment above photos in paragraph states how UFO took the smoke out of Rush, that evening. Loved how every time Phil Moog said "lights out" throughout the set, all the lights would go completely out in the entire venue, pitch dark. When they did "This Kids," never forgot the smile Michael had on his face...while looking over to Pete Way, right before burning into his intense solo, on that song.
That's cool to hear, Bill. The same happened to me a year prior, when I purchased "All The World's a Stage" on cassette. Three months after, went with my musical brother (who I turned on to the band) to see Rush (All The World's a Stage tour) at Winterland. They opened for Be Bop Deluxe, and Ted Nugent (August of '76). We were never the same after that incredible experience. Only missed four tours, since then. Cheers and thanks for stopping by.
I was at this show and ufo and Michael schenker blew me away. Schenker played everything note for note perfect. Never forget it. My favorite song was mother mary. He played it exactly like the album. As for rush I couldn't stand hearing geddy lee sing. He sounded like mickey Mouse.

I remember that show. I am still a big UFO fan but was disappointed by their performance. I don't think they encored and I got the impression they weren't happy with each other, or maybe they weren't headlining and were eager to leave the stage. Rush rocked though....
This is really a nice and informative, containing all information and also has a great impact on the new technology. Check it out here: Jason Aldean Tickets

Rush headlined and U F O stole that headline. Seriously intense. J.

ReplyDeleteI also seem to remember STYX opened. Was Mahogany Rush also there?
